Pregnancy is a beautiful time when a mother can connect and bond with the baby. The seed of Consciousness enters as soon as the sperm and egg fuse together. Thereafter, consciousness captures all the emotions and feelings of the mother. While there is an amniotic (fluid) barrier that protects the baby from severe traumas and shocks, any Stress/positive experiences experienced by the mother is imprinted in the DNA of the baby. These memories get stored in the baby’s brain and eventually shape the development and behavior of the baby, going ahead in life. Since the baby is in theta brain wave- the emotions and beliefs are captured at a deep subconscious level.

It is for this reason that it is recommended that the mother meditates, to ensure that she is in a relaxed and calm state of mind. This is also why Doctors and therapists recommend that mothers keep themselves happy. The emotions that the mother experiences, creates the emotional foundation for the baby.

Talking to the baby during pregnancy can give him/her a sense of security and comfort and can ease any stress while in the womb. As the brain starts developing at this stage, any stress experienced by the embryo will manifest into physical implications at a later stage in the babies’ development. Issues with speech, language and disorders such as ADHD and ADD are a result of a stressful pregnancy. There is scientific evidence to show the same.

Our brain is neuroplastic, which means it has the ability to restructure and re-program itself. And changes happen continuously throughout an individual’s life. Researchers have found out that meditation can actually change the structure of your brain if done for minimum 3 months continuously.

The pre-frontal cortex is responsible for working memory and executive decision-making. Our cortex shrinks as we get older. This is the primary reason why it becomes hard to remember things or to do things as we get older.

The below image depicts how meditation can actually slow aging. As per the below findings, it was seen that the 50-year-old meditators had the same amount of cortex as the 25-year-olds, suggesting that meditation practice can actually slow down or prevent age-related decline in critical structure.

The next case study illustrates people who have never meditated and observed through a scanner. They were put through an eight-week stress reduction program and were told to meditate every day for 30-40 minutes.

During the study, the environment of the human had not changed. There was stress at work, long hours of working and less sleep but the study reports less stress. When you were a little kid, your parents usually chose your friends, putting you in playgroups or arranging play dates with kids from known circles. Now that you’re older, you decide who your friends are and in what company you spend time. Many children in their teens and even in adulthood go through peer pressure. People experience peer pressure because of unworthiness in their day to day life. When children are growing up, they are often compared by their parents, teachers, friends and family for their academics, behaviour, physique etc.

Children get curious about matters like sex, alcohol, parties, smoking, drugs and romantic relationships and want to experiment with life. During the onset of puberty, children start to make friends with the opposite sex and indulge in a certain behaviour to look cool. They would visit new places, check out new experiences to gel with friends (peer pressure), to look cool and to be accepted.

As a result of peer pressure, sometimes youngsters end up with behavioural issues, violence, substance abuse, anxiety and depression. This happens because unconsciously, youngsters carry certain beliefs and defence mechanisms from their early childhood and environment when they were being compared with their friends or cousins about academic marks or performances, instances when they were made to feel that they were not good enough. Such instances which are stored in the unconscious mind that constitutes 88-90% of our brain, manifests/attracts situations and people where the child will feel he/she is not good enough.

You close your heart and you feel the constriction just like the fully flowered lotus is closed.

People who get into a depressed state of mind, their productivity decreases, there may be negative thoughts and can become suicidal as well. These kinds of programs have to be identified and healed properly so that they are not

Over the last few decades, the field of psychology has moved toward evidence-based practice, there has been more attention in the media about the increasing adoption of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Cognitive behavioral therapy is a type of talk therapy. with the series of talks with the trained therapist. Unhealthy behaviors and negative emotions can be identified. And the therapist helps to manage these. Actions thoughts and emotions all have a direct connection to health. In CBT it’s believed that If we make changes in one area the other will get healed and it’s believed that actions and thoughts are easily changed.
