What is Full Moon Meditation?

One of the most powerful time periods to do meditation is during full moon, as well as new moon. Full moon is when the moon is exactly on the opposite side of the sun, and is fully illuminated by the sun. New moon is when the moon is roughly in front of the sun, sitting in between the earth & the sun, during which it cannot be seen from earth as the side that faces the earth is not illuminated.

On earth, there is an energetic influence of the moon due to gravity. The moon’s gravity creates a pulling effect that makes the water in oceans and the sea to rise and fall, called tides. Our body is composed of approximately 70% water. Hence, naturally the moon plays a significant role on our body and mind. During full moon, the strong pulling force brings to the surface deep emotions from within the sub-conscious and unconscious mind, thereby, amplifying inner awareness.
